Awardees and Volunteers Shine at 2017 Award Ceremony

Last Tuesday evening, 19 Gold Awardees were recognised for achieving their Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award from Her Excellency the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AC, Governor of Western Australia and WA Award Patron.

Also attending was Hon Peter Tinley AM MLA: Minister for Housing; Veterans Issues; Youth who presented Distinguished Service Medals to WA Vice Patron, Brother Thomas “Olly” Pickett AM and WA Chairman, Mr Greg Stagbouer.

Greg later presented Life Membership to Brother Olly for his support and long involvement with the Award in WA.  Br Olly has been a stalwart for many and an inspiration to all Western Australians.  We also said goodbye to long standing Board Member, Ms Alex Kempthorne who we wish all the best and thank her for her work with our Board.

National Award CEO, Mr Peter Kay AM presented three Award Leader’s their long service medals: Mr Scott Cox, Perth College, Mr Martin Dell, Guildford Grammar School and Mrs Christine Farr, Girls’ Brigade.

It was truly inspirational to hear the journeys that our Awardees underwent in achieving their Gold as well as recognising valuable volunteers – what a great night.  Thank you to Mr Stephen Hauville, WA Ambassador and previous Chairman, for acting as MC for the evening, Lakoya Abdullah, Churchlands SHS – Welcome to Country, and representatives from Scotch Piping and Drums Band for leading our Awardees and Official Party into the room.
